Most people today have chronically acid systems, which accounts for the high rate of disease that we have come to accept as normal. But don’t forget, an acid imbalance isn’t normal, nor should it be accepted as normal. Scientists have discovered that chronic acidity leads to a vicious cycle of toxin accumulation and oxygen depletion, which in turn results in serious illnesses and diseases.

How can you tell if you are acid or alkaline?
You can buy pH testing strips in any heath food store. A saliva test is the most accurate method. Follow the instructions on the box, which should tell you to test first thing in the morning before eating, drinking or brushing your teeth, and again 2 hours after any meal. Average your results for 1 week to get an accurate overall picture. 6.9 to 7.1 is the ideal range you will want to achieve. Any long term reading outside that range is dangerous to your health.

THE SOLUTIONS:

Cut down on acid promoting foods such as, refined white sugar and flour, pasta and baked goods, artificial sweeteners, carbonated drinks, fast food and convenience foods containing MSG, Aspartame, additives and preservatives. Focus on Alkalizing foods which include: most vegetables, greens, gluten-free whole grains (brown rice, buckwheat, millet, quinoa and corn), legumes, seafood, egg whites, and alkaline fruits; papaya, mango, melon, pears and bananas. There are many books and web sites that give extensive lists of alkaline / acidic foods
Oxygenate your body. You can do this through any daily deep breathing or yoga type exercises.
